Our first Club Weekend for 2024 will take place at Summerplace Game Reserve on the weekend of 31 May to 2 June.
These weekends have all be a great success in the past, with groups of up to 36 riders spending time on some of the BEST Bush Trails in South Africa. (The Glacier Traverse (stage race) takes place there at the beginning of May, so the trails will be in great shape.) The reserve offers around 120km of riding (including loads of jeep track, miles of hand-built trails and some of the sickest enduro lines in South Africa) and so no matter what ‘your poison’ is, you will be spoiled for choice. Game viewing (from the bike) includes Sable, Eland, Kudu, Roan, Tsessebe, Giraffe, Zebra and loads of smaller game.
Accommodation is in luxuriously appointed chalets/houses and the camping areas have brand new ablution blocks.
If you choose the fully catered option, you will not be disappointed. The day starts with pre-ride snacks (porridge/cereal, fruit rusks, coffee). Post ride there is an ample brunch laid out and each evening there is a scrumptiously good dinner. The Coffee Shop and Bar are open from early till late (for own account – settled before leaving).
Typically, the day starts (at the group agreed time) with pre-ride snack, then a 2-4 hour ride led by one of the Trail staff on the group agreed terrain (Jeep track, trail, enduro) – there are normally 3 or 4 staff on site, so 2-3 groups. Post ride drinks and Brunch around 11h00. Then it’s time to chill around the main pool at the trailhead or at the mini pools at the various accommodation sites. Then an afternoon ride (1-2 hours), often ending with Sundowners in the bush, and then back to the trailhead for Dinner (after a quick shower).
Because most guests arrive on Friday afternoon, there is a short ride and earlier dinner (NB Game Reserve Gates lock at 19h00, so no entry after that). Saturday there are morning and afternoon rides with other fun add-in options (watch this space). On Sunday there is a morning ride and then brunch before heading home – but there is always the option to stay and chill for a bit longer before heading back home.
Club Members get preferential booking rates if you book (and pay) between 1 March and 2 May. After 2 May you pay full price.
So don’t delay – book now. (also, if you book now, you can also pay your booking costs over the next three months).
(PS. Our second weekend is already booked for 6-8 September)
