On Friday 25^th April the scene was set as the small group of riders did the 2.5 hour commute down to Tranquilitas Adventure Farm (https://tranquilitas.com) for a weekend of PROPER trail riding.

Saturday was planned for shuttling, but recent rains had made for slippery trails and so the decision was made to delay until Sunday. But awesome forest and mountain trails (all well marked) were tackled, albeit with careful cornering through the (still damp) forests. The afternoon spin on the Rooibaard (Red) route, which had by then dried out significantly, was fast and challenging.

 Sunday was Shuttle Day with the group bombing down the mountain flow lines, squealing with delight and huge smiles on everyone’s faces on the drive back up for the next run. The final run down Morphine was a lot more technical than anticipated, but there were no significant mishaps and a fun filled 3 hours was had by all.  Sunday afternoon was a quick spin along the Rim Trail just to get the legs turning again.

Monday morning was a final spin around the farm with riders doing different routes (enduro, trail, mountain flow) as they wanted and then it was time to pack up and head back to the city.

The accommodation was simple but comfortable. Despite the campsite being chock-a-block with climbers and hikers, at 21h00 each night it was like a switch had been flipped as everyone went to bed. Shared braais around the fire were always time to share ‘war stories’ of the day’s riding.
